IH Joins an AISQ Project using iPod Touches to improve Oral skills
Under the Guidance of Cheryl Frawley, IH Students have joined an AISQ Project where they have been given 21 ipod touches and paid for the use of “learnosity”. This will involve giving back data on student’s performances to see if there is an improvement in their oral skills?
Aims
The aims of the project are to:
• promote oracy in English
• increase student motivation through the use of familiar technology – in this case the Apple iTouch
• increase student use of the four skills- reading, writing, speaking and listening- in English
• help students become more proficient t in English
• investigate the use of ICT in the assessment of students
Concept
The ESL iN TOUCH Project will investigate the implementation of hand held technology as a means by which students for whom English is a second language may interact with a computer and Apple iTouch to conduct conversations in English.
The processes of conducting conversations by the iTOUCH, and then uploading them onto a
customised website for marking and commentary, will be enabled by a computerised system
